The Selection Rounds are set to take place on March 17th on CBS Sports. While the broadcast of the 2019 March Madness is distributed over several channels in the United States, none of them are available outside the States. I found out the hard way when I was trying to secure the live streaming of the event. It turns out you can’t access the channel abroad. Well, not for this tech-guru, no sir. I managed to unblock the channel and so shall you. Here’s how you can stream NCAA Selection Sunday 2019 live anywhere.

How to Watch March Madness Selection Show 2019 Live with a VPN
It’s called geo-blocking. Whenever you try to stream a channel, it takes a peek at your IP address to determine whether to give you access or not. If the streaming service is restricted to the US, having a non-American IP address will get you nowhere. You’ll be blocked on the spot just like I did.
However, I managed to work around this issue by using a VPN. All it takes is to connect to a US VPN server and you’re done. This will give you an American IP address and qualify you as an internet user based in the United States. Eventually, the channel will grant you access to its streaming catalog regardless of where you’re residing.
Here’s my “CBS” unblocking experience:
- Got this geo-error while trying to stream on CBS: “There was an error loading the video.”
- Went and got me a VPN provider. You should try ExpressVPN.
- Signed up and installed their application on my device.
- After that, I searched the VPN’s list of servers and selected an American one.
- Upon connecting, I received a US IP address. I checked it with this IP identifier.
- Finally, I launched CBS again and noticed that I have full access.
- Now, I watch all the games I want without being blocked.
I highly recommend ExpressVPN as it’s one of the best VPNs that can help you circumvent regional restrictions. Moreover, this VPN provider protects your device with the latest military-grade security protocols. Nevertheless, it’s not the only one out there, check out more top VPNs for March Madness in the table below.
Selection Sunday 2019 – What You Need to know
The NCAA Division Committee is responsible for selecting, seeding and bracketing the field for the NCAA tournament. The members serve five-year terms and represent a cross-section of the Division membership.
The members spend a lot of time studying and evaluating teams during the regular season. They are expected to be experts on the teams within their assigned conferences while maintaining a broad-based knowledge of Division I basketball. During November, the committee gathers and begins discussions for the upcoming basketball season.
A month before the real selection, they head to Indianapolis to go through a selection orientation process. This includes a scaled-down selection and seeding process, as well as a bracketing exercise.
Finally, 5 days prior to Selection Sunday, Tuesday, the 10 committee members cast hundreds of ballots and engage in debate over dozens of teams until the final bracket of 68 is released on Selection Sunday.
Selection Sunday went back home after a year’s departure from CBS. In 2018, TBS took over the broadcast rights after a 36 year run with CBS. Now, in 2019, NCAA March Madness is going back to basics.
This year’s Selection Day will be on March 17. CBS Sports will broadcast the whole event as well as the rest of the tournament. So, tune in when the time comes and watch how the action goes down.
