How to Bypass School Internet Security Restriction and Firewalls in 2021?
Bypass School Web Filtering – Use A Proxy
You can use a proxy to bypass web filtering proxies. Normally a web proxy at school does intercept all web traffic and sends it through its filters to decide what goes through and what gets blocked. To bypass the School Web Filtering system you can use a Proxy, all you have to do is to enter the proxy URL and port “Use a proxy that does not use the default port of 80”.
When a non-default port is used you have a good chance that the proxy solution will work to bypass the firewall restrictions imposed by schools on sites such as Facebook, Yahoo, Google Plus and Youtube. Please see the proxy list at this site for publicly available proxies. Note here, that for this to work you need to have rights to change proxy on browsers on the computer in question, and it won’t make all services such as webcam streaming work.
Unblock School Internet Security Restrictions – Use VPN
VPN or Virtual Private Tunnel does what its name implies. It creates a virtual tunnel through the Internet Security Restrictions imposed by the school. A VPN tunnel is encrypted and it works for all applications sites and services on the PC as all traffic is sent through the Virtual tunnel. There are two ways to set up a VPN, either manually or by using an app that does most of the work for you “If the VPN provider supplies such an app”. In either case, you do need a subscription to a VPN service.
I personally use the VPN service called ExpressVPN, they sport great support and speeds and have servers almost anywhere in the world. That allows you to unblock any firewall or web filter restrictions and use the same service at home for online gaming, Netflix regions, or NHL GameCenter blackouts. Here’s what you need to do:
- Sign up with a VPN provider. As I mentioned, ExpressVPN is highly recommended.
- Download and install the VPN application on your Android, iOS, PC, or Mac.
- Sign in with your VPN account and connect to any server.
- This will cloak your IP address and you’ll be surfing the web anonymously.
- Enjoy free-to-use internet at school without any limitations.

Best VPNs to Circumvent School Firewalls
There are a lot of VPNs that can help you with your internet issues at school. However, some us or should I say most of us are tempted when we see the word “free” next to a service. In the VPN industry, that’s the one you should avoid since it’ll do you more harm than good. Try not to fall for their tempting offers, they don’t have many servers and might leak your data while trying to get a crack at the school’s policy. You’ll end up being suspended if caught. To work around that, you better invest in premium services. Below, you’ll find all you need to know about the top VPNs for schools. Here we go.
ExpressVPN
ExpressVPN comes to you straight from the British Virgin Islands. I’m not being biased, but this VPN is my most recommended provider. Their network includes more than 2000 servers in over 90 countries, which is considered to be a huge number compared to others. If you run into any inconvenience, you’ll find that their customer service is excellent and they’ll be aiding you within minutes via live chat.
Their application is very easy to use, you’ll find clients on several major operating systems such as Android, iOS, PC, Mac, and Fire Stick. Not to mention that you’ll have up to 5 simultaneous connections under one account. Share a VPN connection with your family members or just install the VPN on your router to spread a secure network to whoever visits your house.
This service promises a no-log guarantee when you visit the web. Your data remains private to you as ExpressVPN cherishes its users’ online needs. Find out more about it by going through our ExpressVPN Review.
BulletVPN
You might notice that BulletVPN doesn’t have a very big server network, but that’s all due to it being new on the market. However, once you check out its features, you’ll directly fall in love with what it has to offer. First, you get to protect yourself with military-grade encryptions and the latest VPN protocols. When you speak about privacy, this VPN hides your IP address so you can surf the web anonymously. This is a huge factor when you’re accessing blocked content at school.
If you’re a streamer, then prepare your platform for unlimited series with its Smart DNS service. You get both VPN and Smart DNS if you subscribe to BulletVPN’s services. If you have any questions, you can always ask for their support team’s help anytime. They are always ready to solve your problems on the spot. Find out more about this VPN in our BulletVPN review.
NordVPN
NordVPN also comes as a priority to use at school. This VPN doesn’t cover as many countries as ExpressVPN does, but it offers more than 5000 servers, which is quite a number. You’ll find that NordVPN has more exclusive features than any other VPN on our list.
For example, you should check out their double VPN data protection. Instead of rerouting your traffic through one server, it’ll be rechanneled through two. That gives you double encryption and better protection.
When we talk about their servers, you should know that they have well-established ones that help users even if they reside in highly censored regions. If a country like China can’t restrict NordVPN’s access, what would a school be able to do? One word, nothing.
If you’d like to play Fortnite at school during recess, you’ll be able to from now on. Not to mention bypassing regional restrictions and granting you access to channels like Netflix, Hulu, and so many more. To learn more about this service, have a look at our NordVPN Review.
SurfShark
Surfshark is another new VPN in town that has more to offer than you can ever fathom. Once you go to their website, you’ll notice that they offer unlimited simultaneous connections under one subscription. That alone can grab anyone’s attention.
Although it’s new, it rivals the top VPN providers in the world with its services. Even IPVanish can’t unblock Netflix and this one can. With over 800 servers around the world, you’ll be unblocking much more than Netflix and Hulu, talk BBC iPlayer, Hotstar, and more. You can even unblock Youtube at school with ease if you operate with SurfShark.
You can always try this provider out with their 30-day money-back guarantee. Read more about Surfshark in this SurfShark review.

Bypass School Firewall – Study Well
Again, please do not forget the main reason you are at school is to get a good education. Therefore, do treat this article as educational material and visit the ExpressVPN site for more information about proxies and VPN.
My school used GoGuardian to observe students and literally block websites for no reason. a minimum of YouTube is unblocked. But the other social media besides youtube are all blocked. Including games. i am unable to get VPNs or access proxies. But al least I got some site-unblocking browser like Bit Browser, et
ya vpn,s are blocked on my chrome book so this is usless
Which VPNs have you tried so far?
Hi, I am on a school Chromebook with iBoss and GopherBuddy installed and cannot get to a VPN I used to use a proxy, referencefile.org (maybe it’ll work for someone else) but it got blocked and I need help
I use my school Chromebook at home because of online learning. I want to use Youtube and other websites blocked by the iBoss security extension It blocks everything, and I mean everything. I have to use video.link to watch videos, and really- everything else is completely blocked or not allowed access. I can’t get VPN’s either, and it’s really annoying. It’s a school laptop, yes, but we should be allowed more access to things we need instead of having to use things unnecessary for it.
Hi DJ. What issues are you running into when trying to get a VPN for your Chromebook?
Hello, I am utilizing a school chromebook. I am trying to access Wattpad, simply so I can access the stories I have written and work on them and/or present them in class. But my school has blocked it. I cannot use proxies or vpn, and my school uses iBoss CyberSecurity.
VPS and Proxy doesn’t work on my chromebook at school. It’s not Iboss, but something else that goes to a page that says this:
This site can’t provide a secure connectionwww.youtube.com sent an invalid response.
Try running Connectivity Diagnostics.
ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR
That was for youtube, but on other sites too, and links i’ve clicked that claimed to bypass Iboss had directed me to this page.
help me plz ur the best site I know to bypass blocked websites
Hi there. Out of curiosity, which VPN are you currently using?
i can’t get a VPN going or a proxy on my chromebook. My school uses iboss and it literally blocks everything that i need to get on or want to get on or that i know that isn’t necessary to block. It won’t let me do any extensions on chrome and any other browser I use, it blocks the same websites. What do I do?
Hi Gnat. Are you unable to install the VPN app?
hello,
im having an issue because no matter what i try i cant seem to get past the systems on my chromebook
my school uses iboss and gopherbuddy(if thats even one of them) i would really appreciate some help pls
vpn and proxie stuff dont seem to be working
Hi Gin. Can you provide me with more details as to what happens when you try to connect to a VPN server while at school?
VPNs don’t seem to be a good option anymore, since some schools make it so that if you are detected using a VPN, they will blacklist your mac address.
So, my school uses a firewall run by Lightspeed Systems. VPNs or Proxies won’t work, and I’m kind of out of options. Help would be much appreciated.
my school has this thing called “iboss” on the chromebooks and it blocks everything and when i go to use a vpn it says web page not available or something
what do you do if all the sites to unblock things, are blocked?
Hi, my school is using a thing called Meraki for our iPads. It restricts everything, even apps. How do I get around it?
Uy my school uses a double blocker aka bpb.opendns.com and blocked.com making it difficult to get to what I want to do. blocked.com won’t allow me onto VPNs including the one you use. Sigh I need to figure out how to get past BOTH of these.
Hi, I need help. I use a school computer (which is a chromebook) and the only browser on it is google chrome. I need to bypass the school filter because the school blocks certain educational websites that may help me greatly. I tried downloading ultrasurf on the chromebook but it doesn’t work just because it’s a chromebook. The school has all proxies blocked indefinitely. Any way you would be able to help?
Hi. You should be able to bypass your school filter using VPN which can be setup on Chromebook.
Same problem here. In the beginning, almost nothing was blocked, except the obvious. But as the year goes by, the blocking system seems to have learned. I used proxies for awhile but now THEY are blocked. I’ve used duckduckgo.com for youtube; blocked. The blocking system is called, GoGuardian. Any help would be much obliged.

If you can install apps outside of the webstore, look into a browser called “Obscure 3”, which can be installed on chromebooks. I believe goguardian works as a forced extension on google chrome.
i have a app I want to talk to you about * . it is a great app, would like to share something about it on your website??
Please reply to this message with your actual email address, it wont be published.
Hi, i have a question. Im behind a proxy at work that requires a username and password. I have several devices that cannot connect due to the fact that the devices dont have anywhere to put in the proxy name and login information. How do i go about fixing this? Is there a way to hook up a router or computer to login to the proxy and allow the other devices to be able to access the internet without having to login?
I’m trying to use an Amazon Fire Tv or a Roku.
Thanks.
Hi Jesse
You could setup a Linux computer to act as a gateway to the Amazon TV and Roku and then re-route that traffic to the proxy in question with authorisation. It is a tedious setup though.
