Update: Livestream.com/NRL is no longer available. NRL matches will be delivered by Rugby Pass https://www.rugbypass.com/signup free of charge in markets that do not have a local NRL broadcast partner. Equally, in markets where a broadcaster elects not to broadcast a particular match these matches will be made available via Rugby Pass. The Rugby Pass service will replace the Livestream service for the remainder of the 2017 season. That means that if you live in Australia or New Zealand, you can use VPN to stream NRL free live using Rugby Pass.

How to Unblock LiveStream NRL in Australia using VPN?

According to the official NRL.com website, “Users all over the world will have the opportunity to watch NRL – either via local broadcaster or free online on Live-Stream: new.livestream.com/nationalrugbyleague

“This event is not available in your location. The owner of this event has chosen to block your location. If you think there has been an error, please contact the event owner.” That is the geo-location error you get when trying to watch the National Rugby League on Livestream.com/NRL in Australia.

Livestream.com do not own broadcasting rights of the National Rugby League in Australia. If you visit the Livestream website or use their native app on your streaming device, they can detect your location by looking at your IP address. What you basically need is a non-Australian IP address. By using VPN, you can spoof your online location. Here’s how to use VPN in order to unblock Livestream NRL in Australia and watch the Rugby League free live online.

  1. First, you have to sign up with a VPN service. Do not use free VPNs as they slow down your Internet speed to a point where your live stream will constantly be interrupted due to buffering.
  2. Now that you have created your VPN account, it’s time to download and install the VPN app on your PC, Mac, Android, iPhone, or iPad.
  3. Then, launch the app and connect to a VPN server in Algeria.
  4. Finally, watch NRL Rugby on Livestream in Australia.

I would definitely recommend using ExpressVPN to watch Livestream NRL in Australia. Not only do they have some of the fastest VPN servers, but they also provide Smart DNS proxies which you can setup on your Apple TV or other devices which do not natively support VPN. ExpressVPN’s 30-day refund guarantee also means you can try out their service risk-free.

Hi Wally. Yeah, Livestream.com/NRL is gone. As of Round 18, Rugby Pass will offer free live and on-demand NRL streaming in regions that have no local NRL broadcasters. So if you have signed up with a VPN service, you can use that to watch NRL free live on Rugby Pass.

      1. i did the sign up with rugby pass by clicking on the link you have provided but its still not working. any suggestions???

  1. What about ppl who have a non expressvpn…..Surely there is a way for us to watch…you just keep saying expressvpn in Algeria….are there no other options??

  2. Nup, same issues as the other guys.

Had no problem in 2016 or 2017 Auckland Nines, but Round 1 2017 would not stream.

I’m in Europe, used various countries, but wouldn’t stream more than 20 seconds. Germany, where I live, never worked in 2016, but Belgium would.

Now I can’t even watch Round 1 replays but I can watch Auckland Nines replay.

I contacted Livestream support as it seems there’s a technical issue.

Twice they’ve replied that I need to contact the NRL (we all know how impossible that is).

  3. trying here with a swiss server, and no difference – appears blocked, and lacking url link. really disappointing.

  4. I tried spain, Switzerland, Mexico, and about 10 other countries. Some show a geoblocking message. But some are just timing out with not geoblocking message. I just thought the livestream/nrl service was down. Has anyone been able to watch any 2017 round 1 games?

  5. Im using nordevpn. Had no problems watching the auckland nines but now in round one streaming is either interrupted on buffering badly. Anyone else is experiencing the same? Im on a 100mb fibre optic connection.

      1. yes japan is the closest location thats able to use with livestream. Even watching replays is buffering and getting interrupted. this is not good enough

  6. Seems like livestream.com is blocking VPN users from viewing NRL this year. Having a VPN doesn’t let us watch the stream like it used to.

    1. Hi. You’re probably connecting to a VPN server in a region where Livestream.com is geoblocked as well. Try using a Spanish or Swiss VPN server and let me know how it goes.

    2. Yep, same here. 9’s streamed fine for 2 days but round 1 was a no go. Stream would connect initially then i would get a message after about 30 sec “content provider has removed stream”
