As for the other channels on our list, you’ll still need to trick them into thinking that you’re in their area of coverage. Well, that’s explained below.
First Step – Sign up with a VPN Provider
In order to get around geo-restrictions, you need to spoof your online location. The best way to do so is by using a virtual private network, better known as VPN.
This will allow you to hide your IP address and appear online using an IP address from a different country instead. As a result, you can get access to geo-blocked websites such as 9Now, Foxtel Now, Sky NZ, and WatchNRL.
The following list contains the best VPNs you can use to stream the NRL free live online. ExpressVPN does offer a 30-day money-back guarantee, so there’s no risk involved if you choose to sign up with them.

Second Step – Connect to a VPN Server
Now that you have created your VPN account, it is time to set up your VPN connection. Thanks to dedicated applications, this process is pretty simple.
- On the website of the VPN provider you signed up with, you can find VPN apps to download on your PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, or Android devices.
- Once you have downloaded and installed the app, sign in using your VPN account.
- Now, from within the app, connect to a VPN server based on the channel you selected:
- Australian server for Foxtel Now and Kayo Sports.
- New Zealand server for Sky NZ.
- Any server except AU and NZ for WatchNRL.
- Now, launch the chosen channel’s website or its dedicated app if available.
- Watch the 2023 NRL season wherever you are.

How to Stream NRL Free Live Online?
This is all there is to it, really. Regardless of whether you live in New Zealand, Australia, or anywhere else in the world, you can use the guide above to watch the National Rugby League 2023 free live online. It’s not hard. All you have to do is get yourself a VPN and access any restricted channel regardless of where you might be. That’s it. Feel free to submit a comment below in case you have any further inquiries.
Is Livestream any better than it used to be? I got sick of the constant disconnections and buffering, it was so bad I stopped using it. I found Mobdro ( android app ) was way better, no VPN required but now a different channel in the UK has bought the NRL rights and hardly any games are on the app anymore.
Keen to get an update on this too as the cost per month just for sky sport in NZ is still beyond a joke but to buy a VPN is potentially worth while.
NRL 2018 season will only be on Watchnrl.com. As a result rugby pass is no longer an option for watching NRL. Do you have any ideas on how we can access free live NRL streams in NZ for the 2018 season?
Hi there same concern as D. All on watchnrl.com for 2018. Is there any otherway to graciously circumvent skys monopoly by any chance? Thank you
Not sure rugbypass is showing the NRL2018 season. Appears to be all done via watchnrl.com (way too much $$$).
I’m thinking of doing this for the 2018 season and just wanted to know if you believe it is still going to work? Is rugbypass still going to be free if I follow these steps?
Yay!! I’ve been trying to get NRL on livestream and haven’t been able to this year at all, until i found this article. Algeria ay. I think I tried every country but.
Not sure if Livestream is taking a leaf out of Netflix’s book, but I could not get it to work last night while it was live, or this morning with the replay.
I have been watching NRL this way for 4 years but now it wont work.
